Season Review

For the Sasquatch, the 2010-11 season has been tough. In what seems to have been the team's worst season in franchise history, the Sasquatch have experienced their share of ups and downs. Starting before the season even began, the 'Squatch were dismantled with half of the roster leaving to play for another team. Fortunately, the 'Squatch were able to recruit experienced free agent players (mostly from the defunct Thrashers). With a whole new squad of players, the Sasquatch delt with a long period of growing pains, as they had to learn to play with new teammates. Two months into the season, the team took their biggest hit when they lost their leader, Tony Lopez, to a severe knee injury. Without Lopez, the team spiraled into a freefall. One bright side this season has been the emergence of 30+ goal scorer Eddie Bello, who has helped provide some offensive presence for a team that has lacked scoring for most of the season. As the team prepares for the playoffs, they ride a 3 game winning streak going into the season's final game before the playoffs. Goaltender Mike Gaynor has also shown some steadiness over the last 6 games, and reached personal Sasquatch milestones with his 100th game played, and 50th career win.
