In a game that was a close knit scoreless battle through nearly two periods, Tony Lopez lit the lamp with a howitzer slapshot from just beyond the left circle to give his team a 1-0 lead going into the third period. The goal not only proved to be the game winner in the Sasquatch's 4-0 win over the Skulls, it was also Lopez' 499th career point with the Sasquatch. Later in the game, the Jim Lopez scored on a one-time slapshot off a feed from bother Tony. The assist took [Tony] Lopez to the 500 point plateau for his career with the Sasquatch; a feat that may never be matched. As if the 500 point milestone wasn't enough, the game proved to be something special for another Sasquatch player as well. Goaltender Mike Gaynor notched his 6th career shutout as a member of the 'Squatch, puting him at the top for all-time shutouts by a Sasquatch goaltender. The shutout came in Gaynor's 127th game (Steve Kilp has 5 shutouts in 53 games). ... Read more »

As teams around the Northeast Philadelphia, Lower Bucks, and Montgomery Counties prepared for the upcoming Fall/Winter Season, they almost found themselves having to locate new rinks and leagues to play their 2012-13 season. In an attempt to increase revenues, Comcast-Spectacor issued a new payment policy across Flyers Skatezone rinks across the Delaware Valley, that would have increased league fees by an overwhelming amount, and taking financial control away from the leagues' teams. Upon being notified of the new policy, team captains across the league banded together to contest the new policy and expressed their intent to boycott the rink. In swift fashion, rink management was able to report the league-wide outrage to the corporate offices and have the new policy lifted. Now that the financial differences have been resolved, it's back to work on the ice for the Sasquatch, as they get ready for another season. With the loss of scorer, Eddie Bello, ... Read more »

Sunday night was a dismal night for the Sasquatch, as the team only had seven skaters going against the Slashers, who rolled into the rink with a thick bench. With Gaynor scratched due to non-hockey related injuries, and with Kilp having a scheduling conflict, the team had to turn to Tony Lopez to play between the pipes for the depleted line-up. Without the likes of Glen Miller, Pete Brown, Mike Wisniewski, Mike Mahoney, Ed Stelacio, and Eric Litchendorf, the team was found battling a bad case of fatigue against the fresh legged Slashers, who rolled three lines throughout the game. Behind the solid goaltending of T.Lo, the 'Squatch showed tremendous heart, playing hard and playing disciplined. The team was able to stay out of the penalty box, and played sound positional hockey in a losing effort. In a game that ended with the old "would've, should've, could've", they didn't. Instead of coming away with the Win ang getting over the .500 ma ... Read more »

The 'Squatch got a pair of goals from their team's scoring leader, Eddie Bello, and another pair from Donnie Masterson. Following a disappointing loss after the team's great comeback effort against the Pirates, the Sasquatch bounced back with a convincing 7-0 win over the Skulls. Key offensive players in tonight's match-up were Eddie Bello (3 goals, assist), and Wes Keller (2 goals). But it was more than just an offenive success tonight. The 'Squatch won in every phase of the game tonight, as they controlled the puck in the offensive zone, played some stellar defense, and solid goaltending from Mike Gaynor (28 saves on 28 shots). With the shutout win, the Sasquatch improved their record to 3-4-0 on the season. Sasquatch will again on Sunday December 4th @ 10pm vs. Battalion. In a game against the rival Stingers, the Sasquatch pulled off a 9-5 victory in a game that was much closer than the score would suggest. Wednesday's game was a back and forth match where leads changed hands multiple times. Holding a one goal lead with four minutes left, the 'Squatch were able to net three more goals in the final minutes to put the Stingers away. With three players (Bello, Roth, and Miller) scoring a pair of goals each, the Sasquatch offense became too much for the Stingers to handle, helping Mike Gaynor reach his 52nd regular season win as the Sasquatch goalie. With the win, Gaynor passed longtime great, Frank Loh in all-time regular season wins. Although it was a milestone win, Wednesday's game was bitter-sweet for the goalie, as it was not a satisfying performance by the netminder. But the important thing is that the team won the game, and with the return of Glen Miller, the team will look to build on it. The Sasq ... Read more »

Thursday night was another disaster for the Sasquatch, as they found themselves getting smoked 6-1 by the winless Battalion. The 'Squatch looked like a team that just went through the motions in a game that had too many defensive breakdowns, and not enough offense. Even the returns of Tim Carolan and Fran Kochmer couldn't provide any fire to the team, as they tried to bring them back to a .500 record. As Ilya Bryzgalov would say, this team was "lost in the woods". The result from Thursday's game was the 'Squatch being handed their third loss of the season, bringing their record to 1-3-0. The Sasquatch next match-up is against the long time rival Stingers. Face off is on Wednesday 11/9/11 @ 10:55pm.

Thursday night's contest against the Legacy will be one that the Sasquatch will look to forget. From the start, the younger, faster, and more talented Legacy had the gas pedal to the floor, while the 'Squatch seemed to run on fumes throughout the game. Early in the game, the Legacy scored two quick goals, which appeared to be a sign that this one was going to be over quick. But the 'Squatch were able to hang around to keep the game within reach, being down 3-2 until Legacy scored an empty netter to put the game away in the closing seconds of the game. Both goals for the 'Squatch were scored by Eddie Bello, which were his first goals of the 2011-12 season. The 4-2 loss gives the Sasquatch a 1-2-0 record to start the season. The Sasquatch will look to bounce back when they play the Battalion on Thursday 10/27/11 @ 10:25pm.

After falling to the Pirates in their season opener, the Sasquatch bounced back nicely in their dominating win over the Skulls. With Tony Lopez leading the way figuring in on five of the team's seven goals (3g, 2a), the 'Squatch pulled off a 7-2 win, to improve their record to 1-1-0. Another key contributer in the win was Donnie Masterson, had a pair of goals. The win also marked a milestone for goaltender Mike Gaynor, who notched his 51st career win with the team, tying the franchise record with Sasquatch Great, Frank Loh.

The Sasquatch will face off against the Legacy on Thursday 10/20/11 @ 10:25pm, and will look for a little payback for being eliminated by the red shirts in last season's semi-final.
